![]() Sure, you are right about Mafia 3 demo coming after the release to push sales, but Mafia is a linear game. I don't think any of the reasons above is really a problem. ![]() It's not just a case of the developers whipping up a fraction of the game and then releasing it as a demo just like that. I'm not saying a demo isn't possible at some stage but the chances are very limited for the reasons above and this also not being 2002. The new Mafia game may simply be too big and if compressed, it may do a disservice to the game. Not only this, demos have to be authorised (Sony, Microsoft etc.) and they do not like these exceeding 12gb as a standard. Mafia Definitive would have to make a huge portion of the city available and then they'd have to find a way to limit the user experience. Resident Evil and FF7's demos were easy to implement because those are linear games with simple content cut-off points. There was no demo prior to launch and even in a Q&A presentation, they said they had no immediate plans for one back in late 2015. The publishers commissioned a demo so players could experience it for free and then continue their progress if they wanted to purchase. The Mafia 3 demo also came many months AFTER release because the game sold poorly and was widely ridiculed. I am fully aware that the Mafia games got demos but two of those games are very old, at a time when you could get demos on discs - I still have a Mafia 2 Xbox 360 demo and a Mafia PC Gamer magazine disc demo. We also recently got high profile demos such as RE3 and FFVII (PS4). ![]() There is even a Mafia 3 demo as well.ĭemos are getting less relevant, but Mafia always had them. Other regions will see the game on August 27, 2010.Originally posted by V I D A L:J4MESOX4D You seem unaware that all Mafia games got a demo. Mafia II is currently slated for a North American release date of Augfor XBox 360, PS3 and PC. 2K Czech seems to have nailed the brooding mobster feel quite effectively, if I do say so myself. Httpv://I must admit, I hadn't the slightest interest in Mafia II until I saw this video. ![]() There is some rough language here - consider yourself warned. If your thirst for mobbery is still not quenched by this news, maybe this video of the Buzzsaw trailer will tide you over. Expect ample hair wax and hot rod cars called "Grease Lightening." The Buzzsaw demo is set in 1950's-era "Empire State," which is the game's fictional locale that combines aesthetics and ambiance from San Francisco, New York, Detroit and Chicago. The demo mission is one from the final game, called "BuzzSaw," and will see the player assuming the role of Vito as he is tasked with tracking down and taking-out "The Fat Man.". What you may not know, however, is that a recent advertisement in the trade magazine, MCV, announced that a demo for Mafia II is very much incoming and will be arriving on XBox Live and PSN on August 10.Īccording to Destructoid, 2K announced yesterday that a PC version of the demo will also be available, and they offered a little information about what activities prospective couch-mobsters can expect to engage in when they fire that demo up. If you are a fan of the open-world gangster-sim, Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, chances are you already know that its sequel, Mafia II, is set for a late-August release.
